Call for Special Session

Special sessions are a great way to connect you with professionals who share the same interests and are working in the same application area. 11th IEEE CSDE 2024 solicits proposals for half-day and full-day special sessions covering topics that are relevant to the field of Computer Science and Data Engineering and its applications. Interested organizers are invited to submit their special session proposals in the topic areas listed in the Call for Papers of the conference URL: Call For Paper | CSDE 2024 Conference (ieee-csde.org).

The special session proposal should include title, scope, organizers, topics of interest, list of potential contributors, intended audience, expected attendance and material needed for the special session. The proposal must be submitted electronically by following the instructions available in the conference website to [email protected].

Disclaimer I: Any special session proposal that is incomplete and/or is not submitted by following the conference expectations will not be evaluated for its inclusion in the program of the conference.

Disclaimer II: The minimum number of contributions in a special session is 5 (half-day proposal) and 10 (full-day proposal). Special sessions that receive less than these thresholds will not be allocated as such in the in the program of the conference.

Disclaimer III: the final length of the special session will be adjusted depending on the number of accepted contributions and will be agreed with the organizers upon acceptance of the proposal.

Scope

The number of devices in the internet of things is increasing. Along with the increase in devices, managing these devices in the existing architectural model will bring great challenges to the current computing infrastructure. The technology is rapidly changing, and architecting for these situations can be complex. The existing data processing capacity of IoT is becoming ineffective due to the generation of huge heterogeneous data by IoT devices. It is important to realize that the success of IoT depends on the scalability. The existing models and arcihectures are good for small-scale IoT, however, the growing needs of the large IoT environment will need a decentralized and distributed model. In addition to the computing capability, the existing centralized models are expensive because of cloud infrastructure and maintenance cost. Moreover, the diversity of devices and their supporting cloud infrastructure makes machine-to-machine (M2M) communications complex as there is no guarantee for the connection and interoperability for all kind of devices. Hence, there is a need of new scalable methods, models, and architectures for efficient processing of distributed and autonomous data.
